Dear Donator

We appreciate your donation at any level.

Your donation will help the Turgwe Hippo Trust to purchase the necessary materials to operate the Trust to keep on saving these wild hippos. To run the Trust we use a generator for power as we do not have electricity living here in the Zimbabwe bush. We operate the pump in the river to keep the hippos two emergency pans with water by utilising this generator. Our Internet and Email communications are run using a satellite dish powered by the generator. We need daily fuel to run the generator and to run the Trust's vehicles. We need to employ local people for any extra projects as well as pay the rangers.

You will be helping us by any donation you can afford.

Thanks

NEW DONATION PROCESS

New volunteers from USA have created a Not for Profit Corporation to help the Turgwe Hippo Trust raising funds for the animals' conservation. After years of awesome support from Canadian volunteers, it was time for them to take some rest as it was a heavy load task on top of their current occupation. Thank you so much to the full Canadian team for supporting us for all these past years.

Welcome to the new team and thank you for embracing such a sustainable mission.

All donations received by Friends of Turgwe Hippo Trust USA, Inc. A US based Not for Profit Corporation whose purpose is to provide support to and promote the interest of the Turgwe Hippo Trust in Zimbabwe.

During 2025 some of the things that your donations to the Turgwe Hippo Trust have managed to achieve is to raise enough funds to feed Max hippo, 47 warthogs, 8 bushpigs,  over 70 baboons and thirty vervet monkeys at the headquarters.  This has kept them in a far safer environment even though they return to their natural habitat in the bush each day or night.  They have learnt that our home is a safe haven and they tend to stay close which allows us and the Rangers to protect them from poaching and hunting.     They are not dependant on the feeding only in times of drought but it does give them that added security of a safe haven.

Your donations have paid for bonuses and given the Rangers more financial stability for themselves and their families when we reward them financially for catching poachers or removing fishing nets from the Turgwe River.   Your donations have been put towards a talk that Karen Paolillo will be doing in the UK at the Ondaatje theatre at the Royal Geographical Society in October 2026.  This allows more people to know about the hippos and the wildlife at Turgwe Hippo Trust and what our organisation is all about.  It is a prestigious venue and your donations are helping to cover the theatre cost and all the extras on the night.

We hope we will see some of the hippo supporters there so we can actually thank you in person for all that you have achieved for these amazing animals.
